What exactly do you do at an engagement party?
Hi, Me and my fiancee want to have an engagement party this summer ( we wanted it to be a pool party too ) But what exactly do you do at them? Is it just a party for us to officially announce our engagement and wedding date? Is there anything special that goes on? I have never been to an engagement party but I have heard of people having them.. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks in advance!

Who’s invited:
Immediate familes of bride and groom
Close relatives
Close friends of families.
Close friends of bride & groom
It’s a get together so the families and friends can start getting acquainted before the wedding maddness starts. The bride’s dad usually “announces” the engagement and wedding date, even though everyone there already knows.
Refreshments
Cocktail party snacks with drinks
Everyone invited to the engagement party should be on the list for the wedding.
exactly what Vanshti said could have worded better myself
Vashti’s description is very accurate.
I recently attended one where a small buffet dinner was offered and a close friend of the bride gave a toast.
Basically, you just mingle. The wedding party can get to know each other, if they all haven’t met previously.
Have fun!
yup, it is just a nice little way of announcing your engagment to close friends and family. you can set it up just about however you want
my family loves any excuse to get together so we would probably just treat it like any other family function, everyone would bring a dish to pass, we would set up a vollyball net or something and just enjoy each others company and id show off my ring, lol
You dont necessarily have to announce the wedding date.
It is an occasion to celebrate a pending marriage where an official engagement has been made.
You invite your family, close friends and would be bridal party. This might be a nice occasion to let them know who they are.
You can have a cake, food and dancing or whatever you’d like…games are not really done since that’s better reserved for bridal showers. Gifts shouldn’t be expected by anyone. Happy planning.
Celebrate your engagement! Just invite close family and friends. Supply some good music like a dj or something and a buffet and some party decorations! Then just have fun!!
